Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the use of computer programming to imitate human thoughts and actions by analysing data and surroundings, solving or anticipating problems or adapting to a variety of tasks. AI can relieve humans of various repetitive tasks. The technology can learn work once and repeat it, as many times as allocated by a programmer. Machines can perform tasks which are normally performed by a human via experiential learning which is made possible via AI. There are tons of examples of artificial intelligence that affect our daily life. While there may be a lot of controversial issues regarding artificial intelligence, It is impossible to deny that artificial intelligence has made our lives easier by saving us loads of time, money and energy.

Let us look at some uses of artificial intelligence.

Social Media

Social Media platforms like Facebook and Twitter are a great platform to express your opinions. You may wish to operate with your own identity or under an alias. However, a handful of people have been victims of cyberbullying, cybercrime, hate speech etcetera. To tackle these problems, social media outlets are using the support of AI.

AI algorithms can spot and take down posts associated with societal evils at a faster rate than humans. AI identifies hate keywords, phrases, and symbols in various languages. These have been fed into the system, which has the additional capability to add neologisms to its dictionary. The neural network architecture of deep learning is an important component of this process.

Search and Recommendation Algorithms

When you want to watch your favorite movies, listen to songs or perhaps shop online, you will notice that the items suggested to you are almost perfectly aligned with your interests. That is how magical AI can be.

These smart recommendation systems learn your behavior and interests from your online activities and offer you similar content. This is made possible by continuous training and analysis of your online behavioral pattern. The data is collected from the user, stored as big data and analyzed through machine learning and deep learning. It is then able to predict your preferences by recommendations that keep you entertained without having to search any further.

Optimized search engine experience is another example of artificial intelligence. Usually, our top search results have the answer we’re looking for. Quality controlling algorithms are fed with data to recognize high-quality content. This helps make an order of search results based on quality for the best user experience.

Google Maps and Ride-Hailing Applications

Wherever you want to go, instead of having to rely on confusing address directions, you can now simply open up the handy map application on your phone and type in your destination. With the help of AI, you will know the exact directions, the optimal route, and even road barriers and traffic congestions.

The app algorithm remembers the edges of the buildings that have been fed into the system after the staff has manually identified them. This allows the addition of clear visuals of buildings on the map. The application has been taught to understand and identify traffic. As a result, it recommends the best route that avoids roadblocks and traffic congestion. The algorithm also tells users the exact distance and time they will reach their destination as it has been taught to calculate this based on traffic conditions.

E-Payments

Banks use artificial intelligence to facilitate customers by simplifying payment processes.

Artificial intelligence has made it possible to deposit cheques from the comfort of your home. AI is adept in decoding handwriting, making online cheque processing practicable.

AI can also detect fraud by detecting a change in spending pattern of a credit card user. The algorithms know what kind of products a cardholder buys, when and from where they are bought, and at what price they fall. When there is some unusual activity that does not fit in with the user profile, the system instantly alerts the cardholder.
