Only recently the rumors of the exceptional casting of Spider-Man 3, the third installment in the Spiderman series and a sequel to the much-loved “Spider-Man: Far from Home”, has stirred up the internet. Along with Tom Holland, the current actor playing the super hero role; Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are rumored to reprise their versions of roles as the widely relished Marvel “friendly neighborhood Spider-Man “character. Nonetheless the reports are yet to be corroborated. Amidst the frenzy of exhilaration followed by the rumor; Sony Pictures confirmed that the presumed casting has not been made official. Yet there was no denial on the topic either. (Yippee Spidey fans!). Besides, the appearance of J.K Simmons as J.Jonah James, the publisher of Daily Bugle (a fictional New York City tabloid newspaper known for its reliability- wink, wink) who happens to have played the same role in previous Marvel Spider Man movie series starring Tobey Maguire and in the post-credit scene of “Spider-Man: Far from Home”; weighs in more on the rumors’ plausibility.

Moreover, Marvel is once again trying to reverberate their attempts in bringing Matthew McConaughey, rumored to play the villainous role of Norman Osborn.  Robert Downey Jr. will also reportedly appear for a cameo in the movie although the character is unknown. If all this is not enough already, rumors of Tom Hardy’s Venom making an appearance might finally tip you off.

Castings to look forward to

Nonetheless several favorite characters are to be looked forward to. Benedict Cumberbatch is set to appear in the role of MCU Doctor Strange as well as Jamie Foxx as fictional super villain Electro. With these two contradicting roles the wait till the release will indeed be very testing. Finally, Zendaya will appear as MJ, our all-time favorite love interest to bring back all that goofy humor accompanied by Tony Revolri as Flash Thompson. In fact, the plot could not be any less interesting with the current roles either. While the journey of Spider Man is yet so much to be explored, the advent of Doctor Strange could bring major twists and turns to the MCU films and storylines preceding it. Strange could be derived to rectify the cliffhanger involving the identity reveal of Spider Man in “Spider Man: Far from Home” similar to the controversial comic-book “Spider-Man: One More Day” (a four-part comic book crossover storyline interconnecting the three main Spider-Man series) where Peter Parker seeks help from Strange after the death of Aunt May. 

Will this movie be the final and ultimate transformation of Spider-Man Series? Well, all we can do is wait and watch; literally.

The ultimate weigh in

Could the movie be as enlightening as the fans expect it to be if the three spider-man roles were to be merged? The possibility of turning the film into a live action version of “Spider-Man: Into the Verse” resides. In context to that Strange’s time and dimensional travelling skills followed by mystical powers could coincide the three Spider-Man to fall together in one singular period of time and dimension delivering the audience a complex and enthralling plot.

Furthermore, Spider-Man 3 is more likely to be linked to the next Doctor Strange movie, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” currently set to be released after Spider-Man 3, which will obviously be exploring alternate realities hence justifying the rumored castings of Electro, Norman Osborn and other Spider-Man from the earlier movies set in different timelines. Otherwise it could even be a coming together of the super heroes Vs. individual rivalry. Undoubtedly neither would be any less captivating. Then comes the congestion of important characters which could prompt the balance and virtue of storytelling to tilt. Moreover, inefficiency in incorporating singular characters could also result in plot holes. Lastly, a bubble of too many plot strings and ideas could explode into an uncoordinated movie.

On the basis of all the unpredictability and Oscar-winning castings this could be MCU’s most awaited gateway to the Oscars. However, one thing is for certain that it will either be a great hit or a major turn down among the fans with no in-betweens.
